Terminal 1

TERMINAL 1

United Airline's `Terminal for Tomorrow' This $500 million terminal designed to resemble a 19th century railroad station includes state-of-the-art features and design innovations which make travel easier and more pleasant.

The principal element of the design is two 1,600 foot long concourses (B & C) placed in a parallel configuration. This alignment enables aircraft to taxi in both directions between the two structures. Both concourses feature soaring glass vaults imitating historic buildings. This terminal covers 85 acres, including aircraft parking ramps.

The twin concourses are connected by an underground tunnel which is nothing less than fascinating, featuring the world's largest neon sculpture, This sculpture, which runs the length of the ceiling in the tunnel, is programmed to provide continuously changing light patterns, complimented by recorded music piped throughout the length of the tunnel.
